The capital of Virginia has been been named the 3rd best city for business in the US. The city is home to six Fortune 500 companies, which means there is plenty of matching gift money for local nonprofits.

Altria
Headquartered in Richmond, Virtinia, Altria gives back to its community by donating to organizations with a presence in the areas in which its employees live and work; not to mention the farming communities where it sources its tobacco.
The company primarily focuses its charitable giving in five key areas:

Altria has a matching gift program in place where the company matches employee donations made between $25 and $30,000 to most nonprofit organizations. It also offers a volunteer grant program, providing a $500 grant to any organization with which an employee volunteers a minimum of 25 hours.
CarMax is also a local company. Full-time, part-time, and retired employees are all eligible to take part in the matching gift program. CarMax will double donations between $25 and $10,000.

Dallas Matching Gift Companies
Dallas is the 3rd largest city in the state of Texas and a large commerce center. In addition to the major oil companies, many other publicly traded companies call Dallas home. Learning more about these companies and their employee gift giving programs is a vital first step in increasing fundraising revenue.
The following list contains some of the many companies in Dallas area that offering employee matching gift programs.
AT&T
AT&T is the largest provider of mobile and fixed telephone systems in the United States. As of 2022, it is the fourteenth-largest company in the U.S. by total revenue.
While AT&T doesn’t offer an official “matching gift program,” the company supports the organizations which employees are passionate about through its Cause Cards program.
Cause Cards are grants from the AT&T Foundation given to eligible charities recommended by employees. All employees that participate in the annual Employee Giving Campaign will be eligible to receive a Cause Card.
Employee pledges will be eligible for a Cause Card on a sliding scale based on a percentage of total giving. These Cause Cards are expected to range from $25 – $250. Once employees make a recommendation for an eligible charity to receive a Cause Card, they are notified of the value of the grant and the deadline by which they need to redeem it.
Charles Schwabis a San Francisco based company that works hard to make a positive impact on the communities in which it’s employees live and work. Last year, Charles Schwab employees volunteered over 30,000 hours to hundreds of nonprofit organizations.
The company matches employee donations as small as $25 and as large as $1,000 at a 1:1 ratio.
Charles Schwab will also give group volunteer grants of up to $1,000.
ExxonMobil will match up to $7,500 to educational institutions at a 3:1 rate (meaning up to $22,500 in a company contribution) and up to $2,000 to other nonprofit organizations for each employee.

Established in 1886, Edison International is a public utility holding company headquartered just outside of Los Angeles, California. This forward-thinking company aims to make the world a better place not only through its overarching mission of transforming the energy industry but also by giving back to charitable causes through employee matching donations.
Today, current full-time and part-time employees qualify for donation matches between $25 and $2,000. Made at a dollar-for-dollar rate, Edison International supports organizations across a wide range of sectors, including educational institutions, arts and cultural organizations, health and human services, environmental groups, and more.

BHP offers two types of matching gift programs where the company will match donations to nonprofit organizations:
Individual Matching Gifts.Each employee can request matching gifts for personal donations to nonprofits.
Fundraising Matches.If an employee participates in a fundraising walk/run/bike/etc., he or she can request matching funds on all money raised for the organization.
Volunteer Grants:
If BHP employees prefer to give their time, BHP supports their volunteerism by providing grants to nonprofits where employees volunteer regularly.
For every hour a BHP employee volunteers, the company donates $16 to the organization. Of course, there’s a minimum and maximum amount the company will donate per employee, but this can be a great source of fundraising for organizations with a large volunteer base.
Halliburton employees can participate in three different matching gift programs:
Matches to Higher Education.Halliburton provides a 2:1 match on employee donations to colleges & universities.
Matches to K-12 Schools.Halliburton provides 1:1 match on employee donations to primary and secondary schools (max $500 annually per employee).

Phillips 66 is an American multinational energy company headquartered in the Houston area. The Fortune 500 company offers a generous corporate philanthropy program.
Matching Gifts:
Phillips 66 matches donations to most nonprofits at a 1:1 ratio. Their maximum match amount for active full- and part-time employees is $15,000, while retirees are matched up to $7,500 annually.
Volunteer Grants:
Phillips 66 offers two types of volunteer grant programs for employees, their spouses, and retirees:
Individual Volunteer Grants.For every 20 hours an individual volunteers, they receive a volunteer grant of $500 for the organization. Each individual can request up to four of these grants each year.
Team Volunteer Grants.When teams of four or more employees volunteer together for a total of 40 combined hours, the company provides a grant of $1,000.
With over $230 million a year in revenue, ConocoPhillips is the fourth largest company in the United States (according to Forbes). Along with this financial success, the company has made corporate philanthropy a big component of its core values.
Matching Gifts:
ConocoPhillips matches donations from employees and retirees at a 1:1 rate. Employees can request up to $10,000 in matching funds annually while retirees are eligible to request up to $5,000 annually.
Volunteer Grants:
ConocoPhillips also supports organizations where individuals or groups of employees volunteer. Individuals can request grants of $500 after volunteering for 20 hours or grants of $1,000 after volunteering with a nonprofit for 40 hours.
If groups of employees volunteer together, ConocoPhillips provides team volunteer grants. If you have supporters who work at ConocoPhillips, make sure to ask them to grab their colleagues to come out and volunteer together. If a group of four or more ConocoPhillips employees volunteer together for a total of at least 40 hours, your nonprofit can earn a grant of $1,000.
BP is consistently ranked on our list of top corporate giving programs and recognized for having perhaps the best employee giving program.
BP has a matching gifts program where they will match employee donations from $25 to $5,000 at a 1:1 ratio.
The nonprofits BP will match donations to include, but are not limited to:
Educational institutions (K-12 included)

Development, civic, and community organizations
Environmental and conservation organizations

Volunteer Grants (aka Dollars for Doers) programs are an up and coming form of corporate giving. Unlike matching gift programs, in which corporations match donations from employees, these programs match volunteer effort from employees with corporate donations.
Due to the positive feedback we received from readers, we’re doing a followup post. So without further ado, here are 10 additional companies which have truly embraced Dollars for Doers programs with generous grants per hour volunteered.
Companies with Volunteer Grants Greater than $15 per hour:
Travelers Company
Travelers offers two types of employee giving programs.
Matching Gifts of Money
Matching Gifts of Time
Through the “Matching Gifts of Money” program, the company doubles donations made by employees to nearly all nonprofits.
Through the “Matching Gifts of Time” program, the company directs a $500 grant to nonprofit organizations when an employee has volunteered for at least 24 hours with the organization ($20 per hour).
Whereas most companies apply very few restrictions to their volunteer grant programs, Macy’s only provides volunteer grants to educational institutions (including K-12). Through Macy’s “Earnings for Learnings” program, the company provides a $250 grant to schools where employees volunteer for at least 15 hours ($17 per hour).
Macy’s also offers a very generous matching gift program where the company will match each employee’s donations up to $22,500 annually to nearly all nonprofits.
The Kimberly-Clark Foundation also recognizes the volunteer efforts of employees and their spouses or domestic partners. The company provides $500 grants to nonprofits where employees / spouses / domestic partners volunteer for at least 30 hours in a year ($17 per hour).
Through PNC’s “Grants for Great Hours” volunteer grant program, employees who volunteer for 40+ hours with a nonprofit early education program earn a grant of $1,000 for that organization ($25 per hour).
Additionally, PNC offers a less restrictive matching gift program where the company matches donations dollar for dollar to nearly every nonprofit and school.
The Amgen Foundation supports volunteer efforts by providing grants to organizations where employees volunteer. Once an Amgen employee volunteers for 15 hours in a year with a nonprofit, he or she can request a $500 grant ($33 per hour).
Full time employees are eligible for up to $2,000 annually in grants for their nonprofit while part time staff can earn up to $1,000 in grants annually.
Amgen also matches employee contributions of up to $20,000 per employee annually to nearly all nonprofits.
PPG Industries offers one of the most generous volunteer grant programs. Through PPG’s “Grant Incentives for Volunteerism by PPG Employees & Retirees (GIVE)” program, after an employee or retiree volunteers for 10 hours with a nonprofit organization, he or she can request a $500 grant for the organization ($50 per hour).
As an added bonus, if an individual also serves on the nonprofit’s board of directors; the company will double the grant and award $1,000 to the nonprofit ($100 per volunteer hour).
PPG Industries also matches donations to select organizations.
Whereas most companies base their volunteer grants off the annual number of hours volunteered, Devon Energy provides grants for regular volunteering during shorter time periods. The company offers two ways employees can request $250 grants ($20 per hour) for their organization:
Six hours of volunteering per month for two months.
Three hours of volunteering per month for four months.
Through Chevron’s “Grant for Good” program, the company provides grants as a way to recognize employees and volunteers who volunteer on a regular basis.
After employees volunteer for 20 hours with a single nonprofit, the organization can receive a $500 grant. Each employee or retiree is eligible to obtain two $500 grants per calendar year for either a single nonprofit or two different nonprofits.
Chevron also doubles donations made by employees and retirees through the company’s Humankind Program.
Pfizer encourages regular volunteerism among employees and retirees. The company provides $1,000 volunteer grants to organizations where employees volunteer on a regular basis.
After an employee or retiree volunteers for six hours per month for six consecutive months, he or she can submit a request for a $1,000 volunteer grant.
The company also matches donations made by employees and retirees up to $5,000 annually.
All of these companies have embraced employee giving programs by offering grants above and beyond corporate averages. While the corporations may benefit from increased employee engagement, your nonprofit can also reap rewards.
